Comments

What Worked

Checking for extension

Vertical ventilation

Calling for the 2nd alarm

Luck

Lessons Learned

Verbalize sides of building

Maintaining crew integrity

Slowing down when talking into portable radio while giving a report

Incident went from a "slam dunk to an OH CRAP"

Never let down your guard...stay persistant in checking for extension if smoke conditions dont improve.  With that persistants we were able to discover multiple pockets of fire in the insulation above the ceiling tiles.  It wasnt a large volume of fire, but many pockets of small to moderate fire.  This turned out to be a labor intensive fire and the 2nd alarm definetly helped.
