Big Fire Hookup
By Dan Curran on October 13, 2014
In collaboration with my Lieutenant, John Vagg, we created a new training scenario on, what we in Rochester call, "The Big Fire Hookup". Other fire departments and localities may refer to this as hooking up solid, or making big water. This training scenario describes how to get a large amount of water ( greater than 500 gpm) to your fire engine's pump.
Check out our training scenario on the Big Fire Hookup.
This is a quick and useful drill that touches on a number of engine company fundamentals: apparatus positioning, pump operations, connecting and charging a hydrant, water supply, master streams, fire flow, and more.
